What You’ll Need
🍶 PVA white glue (like Elmer’s School Glue)
💧 Liquid laundry starch (or contact lens solution + a pinch of baking soda)
🎨 Optional: food coloring, glitter
🥣 A bowl and a spoon
How to Make Basic Slime
1. Pour half a cup of white glue into the bowl.
2. (Optional) Add a few drops of food coloring or glitter — mix well.
3. Slowly add the liquid starch, one tablespoon at a time, stirring constantly.
4. Keep mixing until it pulls away from the sides of the bowl and becomes stretchy.
5. Take it out and knead it with your hands for 2 minutes.
6. Done! You have slime! 🎉
What Just Happened?
Glue is made of long, stretchy molecules called polymers. By themselves, they slide past each other freely, which is why glue is liquid.
But when you add the starch (or contact solution), the chemicals create new connections — called cross-links — between the polymer chains. Suddenly, the long molecules are all hooked together, and the liquid becomes a stretchy solid: SLIME!
Slime Variations
