π‘ A lamp or hair dryer (for revealing the message)
π¨βπ³ A grown-up’s help with the heating part!
How to Make and Use It
1. Squeeze the juice from a lemon into a small bowl. Add 2-3 drops of water and mix.
2. Dip a cotton swab in the lemon juice.
3. Write your secret message on white paper using the juice. Wait for it to dry β it will become invisible!
4. Give the paper to your friend with secret instructions.
5. To read it, hold the paper near a warm lamp (or use a hair dryer). Slowly… the message appears in brown letters! π€©
Why Does This Work?
Lemon juice is mostly acidic. When you heat it, it oxidizes and turns brown β much faster than the paper around it.
Other organic liquids (like milk, vinegar, or apple juice) work the same way. The science word for this is oxidation.
Different Invisible Inks to Try
π₯ Milk: Works the same way as lemon juice.
π§ Onion juice: Smells weird but works great.
π Grape juice ink: Becomes visible when you spray it with baking soda water (chemistry!)
π Cabbage juice: Reacts with lemon to show colors!
Secret Agent Safety Rules
π« Always have an adult supervise heating.
π« Don’t hold the paper too close to a lamp β it could burn!
π« Don’t write secrets you’d be in trouble for!
Take It Further
